Since the beginning of computers zealots have been lecturing on the need to backup.

But backing up is one of the most hated and avoided  tasks in computing. There’s always something more interesting or urgent to do. So procedures, even if they are in place, aren’t always followed.

Computers fail less often, that’s a help, and use of clouds like DropBox and OneDrive create defacto backups.

But people mess up just as often. And the big, big surge is in hacking.

Once, sleepy Perth was assumed to be off the radar of hackers seeking high profile targets. Our many low-security setups are however ideal for beginner hackers to learn on, and they don’t care what the organisation is.

A much more terrifying possibility however is ransomware. And our money is as appealing as anyone’s.

Ransomware is happening in Perth, right now. Your site will be blocked and no-one will be able to unblock it.

The only true defence against ransomware is a current, sound backup.

(You can of course pay the ransom, usual only a few hundred dollars, and maybe, without further demands, you’ll regain your site, but you won’t know what further spyware and backdoors have been hidden within it.)

The key to successful backing up is automation, so there is a minimum requirement for anyone to do anything.  Automated, off-site backups that are regularly tested to ensure they do restore properly will save your business, when you are targeted.

I can help you develop a hands-off system at quite reasonable price. Just don’t wait until after an event.
